How It Works:
Openings in the bottom section of the metal, mesh shroud align with the seed tray, providing birds access to the food. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the metal mesh shroud down, closing access to the seed. Squirrels and some large birds are foiled, but not harmed in any way.

On a personal note, I was getting divorced and I loved this feeder. I bought a new one for my apartment, and enjoyed seeing all the various species of birds come to visit! I can verify it does work as intended, as in the Chicagoland area we have crows and starlings that push all the littler birds out! I just don’t want to use it where I live now!
