Mountain Brome-Garnet, Bromus carinatus 25 - 500 seeds

This cool season, perennial bunchgrass grows fast and is short lived. Grows best from 5,000 to 13,000 ft. in zones 4-7. The seeds are relished by birds and the forage by all sorts of wildlife, being less desirable at maturity. Provides valuable cover for gamebirds and is my preferred grass to grow with my ducks and guineas due to being highly palatable and fast growing. It can also be used for weed suppression by over seeding. Likes areas with at least 18in. of annual precipitation but does not like to be water logged. Grows 1-3 ft. tall. Hardy 4-7. Likes shade enough to be planted in full shade and looks particularly nice under low growing trees. Though it is a bit more water thirsty than the other cool season grasses we sell, it is a nice addition around trees to keep the soil shady and cool and doesn't require any extra watering than you would normally give your trees.
